Vegetable Glycerine (VG) comes from vegetable oils and is a non-toxic, colourless fluid that is sweet and thick, and is responsible for the cloud production of your e liquid.
Propylene Glycol (PG) is a thinner synthetic liquid than VG and also has a sweet taste, and this is the carrier for your flavour and nicotine, and where you get the throat hit from.
Choosing which ratio e liquid you want is the hard part, and you need to consider what device you use and what style of vaping you prefer
Quick Guide
Use higher a higher VG ratio for sub-ohm tanks – the sub-ohm coils are able to soak up the liquid more effectively and give you a denser cloud and massive vape production – like our pancake man ejuice!
High PG content is recommended for direct to lung devices as the thinner liquid is able to handle the coil better – it gives the sensation of having a drag on a cigarette.
50/50 PG/VG ratio is ideal for beginners and for use with low powered devices or high resistance coils to give you a better throat hit. This also has the best and most intense flavours
High PG liquids tend to have higher strength nicotine and a more discreet cloud production.
What strength nicotine is right for me?
If you are using our top ultimate e liquid shop in order to give up smoking, then you will need to calculate how many cigarettes you smoked in a day and work it out from there.
What strength of nicotine you go for is also affected by your vaping device and your vaping style. The two main vaping styles are MTL (mouth to lung – where you hold the vape in your mouth before inhaling) and DTL (direct to lung – where you inhale directly into your lungs as you would if you were smoking). As a general rule of thumb, MTL uses higher nicotine strength and DTL uses lower nicotine strengths.
There is also the option of using a short fill e liquid. This is where you get 100ml of 0mg (nicotine free) flavoured e liquid. You then add something called nicotine shots (a bottle of flavourless nicotine) and add this to your short fill liquid. This one can be a bit confusing at first, but makes for a cost effective alternative than buying small bottles all the time, especially if you are a sub-ohm vaper!!
An example for the Darkstar E liquid shortfill would be: 100ml of the Darkstar e liquid flavour (omg nicotine) and 2 x 18mg nic shots will create 120ml of 3mg nicotine e liquid for your vape. Traditional e liquids can be quite harsh on the throat when using high strength nicotine, but by adding the benzoic acid it means that you can have a high strength nicotine but with a smoother vape! It is perfect for those who are looking to quit smoking as it is absorbed quickly into the bloodstream due to the high nicotine content and can give you a rush just like smoking a real cigarette.
